Nano-Ethics Symposium

On September 9th, 9:00am - 6:00pm, The first annual meeting of the Society for the Study of Nanoscience and Emerging Technologies takes place at Johnson Hall at the UW. This is a discussion on "nano ethics" and eleven scholars from ranging fields will speak of the social and ethical implications of nanotechnology.   • Willow Brugh has been leading Transhumanist discussion groups since 2007. She can be found all over the internet, but is particularly active on Twitter, Facebook, LiveJournal, and Whitechapel. She also writes for The Worldwide Culture Gonzo Squad.
  • Kyle Milliken is interested in nanotechnology and the societal and individual motives behind adapting an increasing inventory of technological capacity into our culture and self. He has been attending Seattle Transhumanist group meetings since the beginning of 2009.
  • Abby Klein has been attending discussions since 2008. She is a student of cultural anthropology engaged in the study of transhumanism. She is interested in the ways in which emergent technologies are affecting what it means to be human, and how society will change in response to novel technological developments.   • Joshua Madara is interested in cybernetics and magic. He has been attending the SEA-H+ meetings on and off since 2007.
